Hall of Fame Class of 2020 Names Seven New Members
On September 29, 2020, the San Diego County Sports Officials Hall of Fame would have celebrated its 15th anniversary by honoring seven new inductees to the Class of 2020. Our board felt this was another outstanding class of individuals who have demonstrated officiating excellence, integrity and civic responsibility in their respective sport. Those individuals are:
Dennis Bates Volleyball | John “Biz” Bistowski Lacrosse | Danielle Dabbaghian Water Polo |
John Ferguson Football, Coaching | Sal Gambino Baseball | Merlyn “Chip” Holmes Track |
Gregory McAlpine Ice Hockey |
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the San Diego County Sports Officials Hall of Fame board announced the postponement of the 2020 induction ceremony.
For the health and well being of all our members, the inductees, and the many guests attending our banquet, the Hall of Fame Board of Directors thought it would be prudent to honor our seven new inductees at our 2021 induction ceremony. Starting again in November, the Hall of Fame will seek out new nominations for the 2021 campaign. Those selections, along with our 2020 inductees, will be honored at our banquet, to be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
The Hall of Fame Board of Directors would like thank all 2020 inductees for a job well done and to personally welcome them to the San Diego County Sports Officials Hall of Fame. Congratulations to all inductees!
