Dan’s robust wrestling career and officiating legacy began in 1955 and includes the 1962 National Greco-Roman Championships, and more than 175 NCAA Division I wrestling competitions, including the NCAA Championships. He officiated all the Olympic trials from 1964 through 1980, and oversaw six World Championships, 10 Junior World Championships, six World Cup competitions, two Pan American Games and many other high-profile contests. In 1998 he was voted by the National High School Federation as the Outstanding High School Official in Calif., and 1999 he was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. In 2004/2005 he was recognized for his 50 years of outstanding officiating by the California Community College Coaches, and the San Diego Wrestling Foundation. In 2006 he received the Officials Lifetime Service award from the High School Sports Association of San Diego, and in 2007 was inducted into the CA State Wrestling Hall of Fame. Dan retired after officiating his last State Community College tournament and SD Masters tournament in 2008 as its head official. Although retired, Dan serves as Chairman of the California Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
