School Nationals, Mark went on to referee at the Junior College level working at a variety of JC Tournaments and Regionals including the Emory Riddle and Fullerton Open. Mark has been selected to referee at the CIF Masters Tournament over the past thirty years, and served as the Head Referee the past ten years. Mark’s was also selected to referee the California High School State Tournament three times (1997, 1999, and 2002), he was alternate for State in 2007.
As an active member of the San Diego County Wrestling Association, Mark has held the position of President, Vice President, and Assignor for the High School Wrestling Officials Association for the last fifteen years. Mark also served as the Vice President and President for the Junior College Wrestling Officials Association. Mark believes that his greatest contribution to officiating has been his work mentoring young wrestling officials and setting them up for success.
In 1992, Garry Hull, a fellow wrestling official, suggested that Mark also try officiating Water Polo. Mark has been officiating Water Polo ever since. Mark has officiated many CIF Water Polo championships along with an extensive list of tournaments including the Finest City and Hawaiian Open Tournaments. Mark now officiates at the Junior College level and has worked a wide variety of Junior College tournaments, the Junior College Regionals, SOCALS, College Club and the College Clubs National Championships.
