Championship game. During this time, he also worked a full schedule of NCAA regular-season and playoff games.
Cal officiated basketball for 28 years, working games at the high school and NCAA small college levels with many playoff assignments, including CIF Championship games and one California State Championship game. He also served as President, Board member and Instructor in the Basketball Officials Association.
As a baseball umpire, Cal worked 17 years, including 12 years as a NCAA Division I umpire, working games at all 4-year schools in Southern California.
Upon his retirement, Cal relocated to Oahu, Hawaii, where he continues to share his passion- for and commitment-to officials and officiating. He has worked the State High School Playoffs in football, baseball and basketball, including 5 State Championship football games. He serves as Instructional Chair for the Oahu Football Officials Association and Treasurer for the Oahu Baseball Umpires Association. He is also a founding member and President of the Hawaii Sports Officials Hall of Fame. In his 58-year (to date) career, Cal is thankful for the many rewards officiating has provided; meeting and working with so many great individuals, the chance to travel and work with officials in other locales, a lifetime of active involvement with young people, the opportunity to mentor new officials and the good fortune to be on the field or court with great athletes and share extraordinary game experiences.
