David Tiffany

Soccer - Water Polo

David Tiffany was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Cherry Hill New Jersey. He began officiating soccer in September 1973, two months after marrying his high school sweetheart, Ellen.

Shortly after starting his career as a soccer referee, Dave began to referee Division One college soccer and the top levels of the San Diego County Men’s league as well as CIF high school games. Dave worked as the third official in the Major Indoor Soccer league. He has officiated numerous soccer CIF final and semi-final games over his career, as well as NCAA tournament games. Before he retired as a soccer referee he worked the prestigious SURF summer and

Thanksgiving tournaments.

He began to volunteer as a Little League Umpire in the 1980s. He was a member of the San Diego County Umpires Association and Pacific Umpires Association.

In 2001, Dave started officiating water polo. He has officiated CIF finals and Semi-Final games in soccer, water polo and baseball. He has officiated college club, junior college and varsity tournament water polo games.

Dave has served on the Board of Directors for the San Diego County Soccer Referees Association, the San Diego County Water Polo Officials Association and Pacific Umpires Association including three terms as the President of the Water Polo Officials Association, two terms as Vice-President of Pacific Umpires Association and as chair of Pacific’s umpire development and training.

Dave helped incorporate several public schools’, non-profit fund raising organizations, served as President of Navajo Community Planners.
