George Milke

Basketball

George Milke is a native of Chula Vista, attended Marian High School, the University of Southern California, San Diego State University and National University.

While attending Marian he lettered in Football, Basketball and Baseball. He received a baseball scholarship to USC, playing on the NCAA Baseball Championship Teams of 1973 and 1974, earning the honor of the 1974 CWS MVP. George was selected to three USA Baseball teams, these teams won three Championships. He played for the Fairbanks Goldpanners and Coach Jim Dietz, winning the 1973 and 1974 team championships, George was the 1974 Summer League MVP. George signed with the New York Mets in 1975, he played 4

seasons in the minor leagues and then closed out his professional baseball career with the Detroit Tigers, in the summer of 1979.

After Coaching Baseball at Lincoln High School in 1983 and 1984, George returned to Marian High in 1984, serving as Principal, Assistant Principal Athletic Director, teaching Science, Math and Physical Education, Coaching football, baseball and golf. George was the Principal of Mater Dei Catholic High School for the final 12 years of his 34 year Marian/Mater Dei Catholic Teaching – Administration Career.

In 1982, following the guidance of Jack Taylor (SDCSOHOF), George joined the San Diego County Basketball Officials Association (SDCBOA), where he served on the Board of Directors (1990-2002). He officiated College, Junior College and High School Basketball. George worked State Regional playoffs and several SDCIF Championships, both Boys and Girls. He stayed connected to high school sports serving for several years on the CIF Coordinating Council and the San Diego County Sports Officials Coalition.

George resides in Chula Vista with his wife of 47 years, Jeanine. They have two sons Scott and Matt.
