Jamie Huntley-Park

Ice Hockey

Jamie Huntley-Park, a La Jolla High School graduate, grew up in La Jolla, CA, playing ice hockey, her father’s favorite sport. Jamie had a long and well-versed hockey career as she transitioned from player to official and then coach.  Before she joined the police force, she played Division III hockey on a scholarship at Elmira College, a private college in Elmira, New York. During her time in the game, Jamie made friends wherever she went, a great smile and wonderful attitude made her easy to like. After her playing days, Jamie began officiating in San Diego, starting with kids just a few years younger than she, working extensively at the junior and high school levels, and continuing on to work Division I and II college games.

Jamie’s skills and abilities were recognized at every level she worked.  Her skating ability was on par with the best in the game, at any level. With the 2022 Olympics on the horizon, many felt Jamie was on the verge of realizing her Olympic dream. She worked numerous events as a referee for USA Hockey, including an Olympic qualifier in Japan in 2017, two women’s world championships and two Four Nations Cup tournaments.

Jamie met a career goal being hired by the San Diego Police Department in 2012, there she met and married Ryan Park.

Jamie was training to Referee the Women’s 2022 Olympic Games Hockey tournament in Beijing, China.  Before she could fulfill her dream assignment, she and her husband Ryan were tragically killed in an automobile accident in San Diego on June 4 2021.
