John Siscon grew up in Spring Valley and began his wrestling career in 2nd grade, wrestling for the coaching legend and California Wrestling Hall of Fame member, Bill Clauder.

John competed for the Mount Miguel High School Varsity Wrestling team under the tutelage of National Hall of Fame Coach, Ned Blass in his sophomore through senior years. As a junior John was the San Diego CIF Champion and second in the California State CIF Championships. In John’s senior year, after placing third in the San Diego CIF Championships, he went on to win the California State CIF Championship. John was the first wrestler in Mount Miguel High School’s rich wrestling history to capture a California State CIF Championship.

John did not wrestle in college but was invited in by another legendary San Diego Wrestling Coach, Buddy Wilkerson, to participate in the 1974 National Collegiate Freestyle Wrestling Championships where John’s team won the National Championship, beating Olympian Dan Gable’s team.

John Siscon began his Wrestling Officiating career in 1978. During a 39 year career he has worked the San Diego CIF Championships, including the San Diego CIF Masters Championships every year since 1980. John officiated California State Wrestling Championship Tournaments in 1996 and 2000. John was the first California State High School Wrestling Champion to officiate a California State Wrestling Championship.

John Siscon has served five years on the Board of the San Diego County Wrestling Officials Association (SDCWOA) and over ten years as a trainer for the Association. John founded and led the All Power Youth Wrestling Program from 1992 – 2002. John’s wife Angel is a post- high school California State Freestyle Wrestling Champion. John and Angel’s son is a Wrestling Official. John’s brother Dale is a member of the California State Wrestling Hall of Fame.

John is the second member of the San Diego County Wrestling Association to be inducted in the San Diego County Sports Official Hall of Fame.
