For San Diego Imperial Swimming, Mike served as the General Chairman from 1987-1992 and the Age Group Vice President from 1987-1988. He has been an active referee since 1986 and an Officials Chairman since 1993. He served as the 2008 Olympic Trials Referee and Site Selection Committee Co-Chair, the 2004 Olympic Trials Meet Executive in Long Beach, CA, and the 2005 Head Referee for the World Championship Trials. He received the 2006 Ken Pettigrew Award for USA Swimming, which is the highest USA award for service as an official.
