Ron Filson

Basketball

Ron is a San Diego native, joined the San Diego County Basketball Officials Assocation in 1979 and served on the board for 15 years. Four of those years as the association's President. 

Ron moved up to officiating at the collegiate level with the Pacific Coast Conference in San Diego. From there, he progressed to various conferences and independent colleges at the Division III and NAIA levels.

In 1985, Ron joined the officiating staff at the Division II California Collegiate Athletic Association where he was selected to work the 1997 Division II National Championship's final game. Then in 1984 

his 1997 Division II National Championship's final game. Then in1984 his ultimate officiating goal was achieved when he worked at the Division I level in the Pacific Athletic-10 Conference. Ron remained working at the Division I level for 20 years. Ron received an international FIBA certification in 1986 and worked with visiting teams from countries around the world.

He retired in 2009 after 35-years of officiating.
