Tom Wood

Basketball

Tom is a native San Diegan and began his officiating career in 1979 as a member of the San Diego County Basketball Official's Association.

During his tenure, Tom has officiated more then 30 NAIA/NCAA Division III tournament games and has worked more then 20 regional assignments in the NCAA Division II ranks, including the NCAA Division II national final in 1995. He was the first West Coast Official to receive this most prestigious assignment.

Tom has been a NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Official since 1986. At the pinnacle of this collegiate career, Tom worked in seven Division I Conferences, and a multitude of Conference Tournament games in

the Pacific 12, the WCC and the Big West. Tom has appeared in 6 NIT Tournament Official from 1996 through 2006, culminating in a "Sweet Sixteen" appearance.

In November of 2011, Tom retired from the City of San Diego after 37 years as a Park and Recreation Manager. Tom officiated for 33 years and formally retired after the 2012 season.
