Tony Guerrero grew up in Stockton, CA and began wrestling in the 9th grade at Tokay High School in Lodi. He moved to San Diego County where he graduated from Mt Carmel High School. After wrestling two years at San Diego State University (following the elimination of the program), Tony enlisted in the United States Marine Corps competing in the Armed Services to finish his competitive career.

He began a coaching career at Ramona High School, where he coached from 1992 – 2002, during his tenure the Ramona High School Wrestling Program won 3 CIF Divisional Titles, 5 league championships had 5 individual state placers and over 30 individual CIF Divisional and Master Champions. With

Tony’s increasing workload as a California Law Enforcement Officer, he was unable to continue in his coaching capacity but still wanted to continue in the sport that helped shape his life.

In 2002, Tony began his Officiating Career with the San Diego County Wrestling Officials Association (SDCWOA); Tony officiated the San Diego CIF Master’s Championships in his first year of Officiating and has continued to do so for the last 20 years. As a high school official, Tony has officiated 5 California State Wrestling Championships and 13 National High School Individual and Dual Wrestling Tournaments including head official duties. Tony Guerrero has been honored with “Official of the Year” awards from AAU and NHSCA and continues to officiate and evaluate officials at nationally renowned events to including; Beast of the East (Delaware), Reno TOC, Super 32 (North Carolina) and Disney Duals (Florida). As a NCAA/NAIA/NCWA/JC collegiate official, Tony has officiated five 5 California Junior College State Championships, matches in the PAC-12, Big Ten, Big 12, NCAA regional tournaments and 4 NAIA National Championships.

Tony has filled leadership positions with the Southern California College Wrestling Officials Association (SCCWOA), serving on the Board of Directors. he has been the President of the Association for the past 15 years.
